Vote Per Seat



The number of LS seats per state is constant since 1976. Now a MP represents more people  than that used to represent 40 years back.

In 1976 the total number of LS seats were decided and they are same today in spite of increasing the population.

Today's seat distribution is based on census of 1971.

The number of seats in LS is 543, fixed since 1977 polls.

The largest constituency in 2014 was  Malkajgiri in Telangana while the smallest consituency was Lakshadweep.
