Model Code of Conduct came into force from 1996 and the number of seats to fight election for a candidate were reduced from 3 to 2.

As per the direction of Hon'ble supreme Court it is mandatory to make Criminal Record and other information of a candidate public.
2013
NOTA none of the above came into existence in 2013.
2014
All the proceedings of cases against MPs and MLAs would be completed within a year,If the candidates had been charge sheeted as per the direction of the Hon'ble Supreme Court.
2017
It is mandatory for political Parties to collect party fund through Electoral Bond above Rs 2000.
