To find the area of a parallelogram geometrically.
PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE
Concept of area of rectangle
Concept of parallelogram
MATERIALS REQUIRED
1.White paper
2.Pencil
3.Scale
4.Eraser
5.Scissors
6.Glue stick...etc
PROCEDURE
1.Draw a parallelogram PQRS on a paper and draw a right-angled triangle PTS and fill with yellow colour.

2.Cut off a piece of cardboard in the shape of right angled ∆ PTS and cover with white paper and place it with hypotenuse PS alongside QR as shown in the (Image 2)
Image 2
3.After colouring red,we obtain a rectangle TVRS with length PQ+QV-PT=l
and breadth ST.
OBSERVATION
Now,area of a rectangle TVRS is equal to the area of a parallelogram PQRS.
ST is the altitude or height of the parallelogram PQRS.
Therefore,
Area of rectangle TVRS= l× ST
Therefore,
Area of parallelogram = l×h
Where
l is the base and h is the height
CONCLUSION
So
Are of parallelogram= Base × Corresponding altitude
