PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE:Concept of area of a square and concept of area of a triangle.
MATERIAL REQUIRED: 1. Square papers
2. Colours
3.Pencil
4.Eraser......etc
PROCEDURE:1. Draw a right-angled triangle PQR of sides 3,4 and 5 units on a white sheet paper and fill with yellow colour (Image-I)
2. Draw a square of the side QR (3 units), a square of the side PQ (4 units)
and another square of the side PR (5 units) on a squared paper and cut them out as per per the figure (Image-2)
3. Paste these cut-out along the side PR (5 units),along PQ (4 units),and along
QR (3 units) (Image-3)
4. Count the number of unit squares in each of these three squares on side PQ,QR
,and PR of the triangle.
OBSERVATION:1 Number of unit squares in the square on the side PQ=16
2. Number of unit squares in the square on the side QR =9
3.Number of unit squares in the square on the side PR =25
4. Number of unit squares on the side PR= Sum of number of unit squares on the side
PQ and QR
CONCLUSION: It is verified that (HYPOTENUSE) 2 = (BASE) 2 + (PERPENDICULAR) 2
